Ten CCSD Students Win STEM Scholarships

Ten Cherokee County School District Class of 2026 graduating seniors won STEM scholarships from a local organization!

Winners of the Cherokee County NAACP 2026 STEM Scholarship Program are: of Cherokee HS, Kobe Fitzgerald; of Creekview HS, Anaya Lawrence; of Etowah HS, Hannah Oduselu and Aneesa Turner; of River Ridge HS, Udi Gitau and Manuel Tombe Tamga; of Woodstock HS, Kaydence Edwards, Ashley Graham, Mmesomachi Igwilo, and Jori Jones.  Congratulations to our students and their teachers, thank you to the award sponsors, and thank you to our School Board for its laser focus on ensuring our students are learning more, growing more, and achieving more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else!

The program was developed to provide resources to CCSD students who plan to pursue STEM related college degrees or other career readiness programs.  Each honoree received a laptop computer funded by sponsors, Andrew Fede, Esq. and Darryl Armstrong (Atlanta Brand Central, LLC).  Honorees were selected from a pool of applicants based on academic performance, character, educational and career goals and interviews.  The computers were presented at the Cherokee County NAACP’s Annual Freedom Fund Banquet.

Anaya and Kaydence plan to pursue careers in biomedical engineering, with Kobe planning a career in construction and architecture and Aneesa in architecture.  Udi plans to pursue a career in economics, with Ashley planning a career in biochemistry and Mmesomachi in chemistry.  Jori plans to pursue a career in psychology, with Hannah planning a career in biology and Manuel in aerospace engineering.
