MUST Ministries and Kroger Partnership Boosts Cherokee HS Food Pantry

MUST Ministries and Kroger Partnership Boosts Cherokee HS Food Pantry

MUST Ministries will be using a partnership grant from Kroger to support and enhance the food pantry at Cherokee High School, one of four school food pantry projects in the region selected  by MUST to benefit from a $205,000 donation from the grocery store chain! CCSD appreciates our valued partners in the community who support our efforts to ensure students are learning more, growing more and achieving more here in CCSD schools!

Officials from MUST and Kroger visited Cherokee HS on Wednesday to announce the partnership, presenting a check and cutting a bright blue Kroger ribbon as part of the celebration. Cherokee HS Principal Andrew Hall thanked MUST and Kroger for their generosity, and credited Spanish teacher Jennifer Rasmussen for her hard work and leadership with student groups in keeping the food pantry stocked, as well as processing donations and handling distribution.  Ms. Rasmussen thanked MUST and Kroger and invited applause for the students present, including those from Interact Club, SALT, Warrior club and students in her Native Spanish II class.

MUST Ministries President Ike Reighard and Kroger Atlanta Division President Victor Smith both spoke at the event, thanking the students, as well as school and district leadership, for support.

"We want to make sure that where Kroger operates, kids are not hungry," Smith said. "Thank you, Cherokee County Schools, for making this happen."

"We know this pantry will be a huge blessing to this community and the students and families, " said Reighard. "Thank you."
