Meet the Teacher Advisory Council: Jeremy Law of Cherokee HS!

The Cherokee County School District’s newly formed Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council provides educators with the opportunity to share valued feedback.  The talent of our teachers is unparalleled and their dedication to go the extra mile is unmatched!  Over the coming weeks, we'll be introducing each Council member to our community.  You can learn more about the Council and see the full list of its members online here.

What inspired you to become a teacher?
After spending close to 13 years in banking and finance, I felt a calling and strong desire to help mentor and coach young people.

What do you find most rewarding about your job?
I've found that when you exhaust all your energy and resources in trying to teach and make a difference in the lives of others, you will find yourself as the blessed one. The relationships you form with students and their families will last forever.  As author Jon Gordon says, “If you live to fill yourself up, you’ll feel empty. If you empty yourself to fill others up, you’ll feel FULL-filled.”

How do you elevate the excellence in your classroom?
I think the best way to elevate the excellence in your classroom is to first let the students know that you care about them more than you care about their academic performance. Once the students feel comfortable being in your room, and once the students know that you care about them, then they will want to learn, and they will work hard to learn in your classroom.  A positive and friendly environment is the foundation to elevating the excellence in your classroom.
