Jon Pope was named the Cherokee County Educational Foundation Alumnus of the Year at its Celebration of Education Annual Gala this month. The prestigious award recognizes recipients for outstanding professional and civic contributions. Jon is the first second-generation Alumnus of the Year, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Judge Marion Pope.
After high school, Jon attended The Citadel in Charleston, where he was a member of The Summerall Guards and served on the Honor Court as a defense lawyer. He earned his law degree from Georgia State University in 1995.
Today, Jon is a distinguished personal injury attorney based in Canton with more than 30 years of legal experience. He is a partner at Hasty Pope, LLP, a firm renowned for its dedication to injury victims.
Among his many achievements, he has been recognized as "Legal Elite" and “40 Under 40” by Georgia Trend Magazine and as a “Rising Star" and “Top 100 Super Lawyer" by Atlanta Magazine. He served two terms as president of the Blue Ridge Circuit Bar Association, as president of Georgia Trial Lawyers, and on numerous boards, including for The Citadel. Most recently, he was appointed by Governor Brian Kemp to the Judicial Qualifications Commission.
Jon is very supportive of his community and sponsors many events and programs for the City of Canton, Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce and Cherokee High School athletics. Additionally, he sponsors the Cherokee Retired Educators Association’s scholarship for Reinhardt University students and is a Supporting Partner of Sheriff Frank Reynolds Charities.
