Celebrating CCSD Bus Driver Appreciation Week: Justin King of Cherokee Zone - South!

It’s National Bus Safety Week and CCSD Bus Driver Appreciation Week!  Our talented and dedicated team of school bus drivers carry the most precious cargo each day to help our students learn more, grow more, and achieve more in our classrooms than they could anywhere else.  This week, we’re celebrating our bus drivers by spotlighting one of our Transportation Employee of the Year Award winners each day.  Please join us in thanking Cherokee Zone - South Transportation Employee of the Year Justin King! 

In his second year as a CCSD school bus driver, Mr. King drives routes for Knox ES STEM Academy, Freedom MS, and Cherokee HS.

What do you find most rewarding about your job?  
What I find most rewarding about my job as a school bus driver is knowing that I'm helping students start and end their school day safely.  Making sure they get to school on time and ready to learn gives me a real sense of purpose.  It's rewarding to know that I play a small but important part in their education and daily routine.

How do you elevate the excellence on your bus?  
I elevate excellence on my bus by creating a positive and encouraging environment for the students.  For my elementary riders, we have music days to make the ride fun and engaging.  I also make a point to recognize and celebrate students when they bring good grades or test results on the bus.  It helps build their confidence and reinforces good behavior and effort.
