A Cherokee County School District police officer and the person whose life he recently saved were reunited at a special recognition during Thursday’s School Board meeting.  CCSD Police Sgt. Chris Shaw was recognized by the School Board with the CCSD Police Department’s Life-Saving Award in honor of his heroism and life-saving actions.

A Cherokee High School Class of 2025 graduate has won the annual Maritza Mott Scholarship!  Gabriela Huerta Hernandez earned the $1,000 memorial scholarship, which is open to one graduating senior and awarded based on an application, essay questions and references.  

The Cherokee County School District’s Student Advisor and Student Delegates to the School Board gathered this afternoon for their last roundtable meeting with Superintendent of Schools Mary Elizabeth Davis. One outstanding high school senior from each of CCSD’s high schools serves as a delegate for one school year to give input and feedback to the School Board and to the Superintendent. Their valued feedback influenced success this school year and led to planned improvements to the Delegate program for next school year.

A Cherokee County School District Class of 2025 graduating senior is this year’s winner of the Judy Johnson Memorial Scholarship presented by the Cherokee County School District’s School Nutrition Association!  Cherokee High School senior Kaitlyn Lawrence is the recipient of the 2025 scholarship, which honors the service of a dedicated CCSD School Nutrition employee, Judy Johnson.
